Coordinates after-school tutoring program for grades K-4 to ensure implementation of programmatic goals/objectives; To provide an academic environment that motivates tutors (volunteers) and to foster student growth and development, both academically and individually

The position is part-time (30 hrs/week).

Salary Range: $18-20/hr based on qualifications and experience

  • Coordinate an after-school tutoring program at Johnson Elementary School- securing volunteer tutors from various community partners, orientating tutors with team support, scheduling tutors, etc.; Responsible for tutor sign-in sheets and/or relevant documentation being turned into administrative offices of designated community partner
  • Work closely with the school administrator(s) and faculty to identify students that could benefit from program, monitor student progress, and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders
  • Collaborate with lesson plan writers regarding the individual needs of students; tutor assignments and any issues related to meeting the needs of each child
  • Oversee tutors, volunteers, and staff supporting the program
  • Provide required documentation to grant writer for reporting or renewal purposes as noted on calendar throughout the academic year
  • Conduct in-home parental visits to enroll/re-enroll students as well as to address progress updates, discuss academic/ behavioral concerns, or parental support/reinforcement needs
  • Conduct regularly scheduled and as needed staff meetings
  • Duties vary during summer months to include: supporting camps/clubs; planning for upcoming academic year
  • Other duties as assigned (ie. provide support for special events)


  • Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree in Education preferred or (2-5 years of experience) working with children in an academic setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel/Word with no exceptions)
