On Saturday, local artist and Prospect neighbor Jessica Crichlow announced that the she will donate 50% of gross sales from her Etsy store to Abundant Life through Friday, August 25. Read her inspiring story below and what motivated her to support our work in this way:
“My family has lived in the Prospect area of Charlottesville for the past nine years. Though our time has been filled with medical school and residency for my husband and with three little boys, the youngest of whom is medically fragile and has special needs, we have been very aware of Abundant Life and what you do. I have often wished I could be involved, especially as my kids grew older and I got to know our neighbors with kids in Johnson Elementary School. I have been especially involved in the special needs preschool class and have grown to love my son’s little classmates from our neighborhood. They have shown such pure love toward a little boy who can’t talk, walk, hold a toy, or even smile much. They have played with him and loved on him without seeming to notice his differences.
“After the recent difficult events in Charlottesville I was searching my mind for how to help. I couldn’t participate in protests or vigils, as much as I wanted to. But then it occurred to me that I have one tool at my disposal – my art. I decided to donate all of the money raised on my art for one week to local organizations. Abundant Life was the first to come to mind. My hope is that I can do something, however small, to let the people of our neighborhood know how important they are to this community and to us.”
