Our Mission
Charlottesville Abundant Life Ministries (CALM) is a partnership among the residents of the Fifeville/Prospect Avenue neighborhood (including Blue Ridge Commons Apartments, Prospect & Orangedale Avenues, Bailey Road, 7 1/2 Street) and volunteers from local churches and area nonprofits. The partnership began in 1995 when members from Trinity Presbyterian Church and local residents started praying together for change. Together, we desire to address spiritual, educational, and economic needs by offering Christ-centered programs and by sharing our lives together.
Abundant Life Ministries
The phrase "holistic ministry" isn't new to anyone long associated with Abundant Life Ministries. It means addressing the needs of whole people and, when fleshed out, means holding programs five days a week, four evenings a week (and many weekends). Almost 140 children and more than 100 volunteers are involved in weekly meetings -- tutoring, mentoring, eating dinners together, learning the Bible, playing basketball, going on field trips, praying, and just hanging out together.
