Dear Abundant Life Community,
As many of you know, Abundant Life is in a season of transition as Executive Director Rydell Payne stepped down from the organization in May. We are thankful for his faithful service to the community for almost 18 years! We are also excited for what is ahead and thankful to God for his provision that continues to keep Abundant Life stable. A committed board and staff remain passionate in their work of carrying out the ministry’s mission and vision.
The Executive Committee of the Board and Chief Operations Officer, Anne Brown, are sharing the Executive Director responsibilities until a dedicated search process can be completed. Rydell is helping as needed to ensure a smooth transition and—for the third year in a row—participated in the Journey of Awesomeness, a two-day bike ride fundraiser held in early June.
Deep in summer programming, our staff is pouring into Prospect youth while also strengthening after-school programs for next year to increase their impact. Richard Feero has rejoined the staff and, along with Dylan Rosenthal and Tyler Hutcherson, is working with Prospect middle and high school young men. The “White House” at 782 Prospect Avenue has undergone a beautiful renovation by enthusiastic volunteers, participants, and staff. Our hope is that this home will be a blessing to you and the community as we open it up more for programs, activities, and general use by the neighborhood. We are excited about enhanced systems we are putting in place to foster communication with participants, volunteers, and donors. Abundant Life is committed to serving each of these groups with excellence.
Meanwhile, we are completing our strategic planning to determine the profile of the next Executive Director, whom we hope to have in place in early 2018 (see job listing).
As we look forward to the future and more opportunities to serve and minister, we ask you to continue to pray for and support Abundant Life, Rydell, the board and staff, and most of all the children, families, and residents of the Prospect neighborhood.
The Abundant Life Board
